The CT Youth Count is a week-long event to count all of the sheltered and unsheltered homeless youth and young adults under the age of 25 who were homeless on a given night. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires that the count is conducted at the end of January and 2017 will be used as the baseline year for collecting data on youth homelessness.
The Youth Count will take place from January 25th to 31st, 2017. Volunteers can choose to participate during one or several time slots over the course of the week. The local leads will ensure that volunteers are trained and placed on teams to conduct surveys with youth between the ages of 13 and 25 at indoor locations and/or along predetermined routes for street outreach. The surveys are anonymous, but will provide important information about each young person’s housing experiences. Volunteers can choose the region and town(s) in which they would like to dedicate their efforts.
If you are under 18, and interested in volunteering, please complete this waiver.
